Safeguarding policy

Harlekin Studio Opera are committed to the wellbeing of our members and the wider community. We ensure that all trustees receive relevant training to protect our young and vulnerable community members as well as those with additional needs. Our policies are adapted from those set out by NSPCC and Newcastle Safeguarding Adults Board.

Our nominated safeguarding officer is Dr. Nell Drew and her appointed deputy is Dr. Susan Baker. Concerns may be raised confidentially with either of these people either in person or by email. However, information may need to be shared with other trustees and relevant authorities if we believe someone is at risk of harm or at risk of harming someone else. This is outlined in our policy documents below.

Children and Young People

Vulnerable Adults

Safeguarding concerns may be raised with any Harlekin Studio Opera Trustee, who will then direct the affected person(s) to our safeguarding team. The Safeguarding Officer and/or Deputy will be present at all rehearsals and events and the best practice would be to raise concerns with either of them directly.

Alternatively concerns may be raised via email with Dr. Nell Drew:

Harlekin Studio Opera is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation: No. 1183089. The company is managed by volunteers -  all funds are invested into the company, and into the enrichment of those we serve.
